Oil on canvas, gallery wrapped. Painting called Red Planet was painted with big trowels giving it a thick texture - red on darker red with yellow mixed in. It has finally dried into a more muted reality that has a calmness despite its passionate red. It has something that makes me want to look at it continually. Don't think this painting means nothing because there is no subject. It is a color field painting saying things that have no words. It is ever changing and mysterious. It is my one rare painting.

Note from Cecil: I agree with Miro. I saw a wonderful exhibit in the Pompidou Museum in Paris of his work. Dozens and dozens of quick sketches proves his innocence and vitality.

Description: Flames of Love is a large dramatic work in thick oil paint. My framer calls it powerful. The inspiration for this work came in a strange way. I received an e-mail from a person named ADRIENNE asking me to create a painting that would be the main image for an art ad for an upcoming musical her boss was writing about Oscar Wild's life. It would be similar to Moulin Rouge and be extremely colorful and romantic and would take place in Paris. I jumped right in grabbing up a 48 x 60 canvas and started painting in reds, pinks, oranges, rose, and blue and white. I had it almost completed in a few days when I received a call from a Artist Registry service I used for links for my website and collector contacts. This person said the e-mail was a hoax and that everybody on his service had received a copy. He said he hoped I wasn't disappointed. I said no, I had a great painting that's nearly completed and it says everything I wanted it to say. The registry owner as a matter of fact was in love with a Russian artist who's an emmigrant to my area. She is a pretty good painter. I am no longer friends with him. I still love this work and still call it Flames of Love because I painted it under the guise of love. Love is a sort of guise anyhow! The new frame frames it perfectly. It is a substantial flat black wooden square box frame which supports the large work very well. A very good buy at $2000. It would be nice in a glamorous glitzy apartment overlooking Manhattan!
